Felt Characters

During Term 1, the Year 5 girls explored the world of characters. They brainstormed where characters can be seen and completed a thinking routine around a street art character. They then set about making their own character designs using different drawing prompts and programs. This included a character in the Foldify app that was transferred into 3D Paint to make a movie poster. The girls also used pavement cracks, shapes and clouds as starting points for character illustrations before deciding on one design. Using their final character drawing they made paper patterns to cut the components of their characters from felt. The girls then glued their design together and learnt how to use the sewing machine to sew up the sides before adding stuffing. To complete their character the girls learnt how to sew an electronic circuit with led lights.
